Colson 750 Multi-chined

This 750 design was draw in response to an enquiry from Mr. Brian Murphy and lead directly to the development of the 6 metre design.

This boat wast built by the owner in Australia. It is multi-chined sheet plywood, epoxy glass sheathed externally. It has a pivoting ballasted centreboard which finishes flush with the bottom of the hull to allow her to totally dry out. She is maximum trailerable beam at 2.50 metres wide which she carries right through to the stern. Twin rudders and asymmetric gennakers. The headroom is modest in this vessel as per the clients request for a sleek looking sports-type boat but the full width cabin and beam give plenty of interior space. She is being built over permanent plywood frames to minimize waste. Rig is as per the majority of my designs aimed at [plenty of sail with a low centre of effort with stability coming as much from hull form as the ballast package.

Some of the images below are of a 1:10 scale model.

Length over all  7.50 metres
Beam max.  2.50 metres
Displacement  1000kgs (sailing)
SA up wind  36 sq.m.
