Our latest 6 metre design draws on experience gained from the various versions of our 550 design and the earlier 6 meter design “Hot tramp” owned by Ross Hutchins in south Australia but this one is being set up for kit set construction. It is multi-chined with 4 panels per side, epoxy sheathed externally. She is maximum trailerable beam at 2.5 metres which is carried all the way to the stern. The centreboard is ballasted and foiled, pivoting up flush with the bottom of the hull. The cabin runs full width as per my 550 and 650 designs giving plenty of internal space. The wide beam and freeboard result in a large volumed boat with a habitable interior.
The twin rudders and centrally mounted outboard make boarding and swimming a breeze.
The rig is developed from the 550/650 boats with a short mast, large roach and Asymmetric gennakers.
I have squared up the stern giving maximum deck and cockpit space.
We currently have the first boat under construction near Bribie island in Queensland with a second scheduled for immediate start once the first is off the building gig.
The design is available from just the plans, hull only or hull/deck. Moulds are being made for the rudders and the centreboard and will be available from just the shells through to the completed items.
